OpenRoad Racing's Scott Hargrove gears up for another win
Champion race car driver, Scott Hargrove gears up for another win at the Porsche Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge during the Toronto Indy
VANCOUVER, B.C. (May 20, 2015) – OpenRoad Racing is teaming up with Canadian racing champion, Scott Hargrove once again to bring their winning formula to the 2015 Porsche Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge during the Honda Indy Toronto.
Last season, Hargrove raced to victory in OpenRoad’s Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car to win the Platinum Cup Championship, making him a Canadian racing star during his rookie year with OpenRoad. This year, Hargrove hopes to solidify his reputation as a champion by taking home another win during the 2015 Porsche Ultra GT3 Cup Challenge. The race will take place during two rounds on the iconic street circuit at the Honda Indy Toronto, June 12-14.
“Last year was an incredible season with Scott as our driver. Another win in 2015 would not only solidify our reputation as one of the best GT3 teams in Canada, it would also be an absolute dream come true for OpenRoad racing,” said Christian Chia, President and CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group. “So many factors can affect our chances of making it to the podium but we hope to bring that sweet spot back to the track to bring home another Platinum trophy.”
Hargrove started the 2014 season with a sweep of both Victoria Day Weekend races at CTMP, and claimed the Platinum Cup Championship with a record of six wins and four runner up finishes, including winning the season ending race by more than 14 seconds, which was the second-largest winning gap of the season by any driver. The champion race car driver from Surrey, B.C. has his sights on a follow up win during the Toronto Indy.
“I’m very excited to once again hit the race track with Open Road, said Scott Hargrove, OpenRoad race car driver. “The car has been on display at Porsche Centre Langley with my name on the side since the end of last season, just begging to be raced once again. I loved every second of racing Porsche’s last year, especially winning in the tight streets of Toronto in tricky weather conditions. I’m sure this year will be equally exciting and I can’t wait to get started.”
Founded in 2004, the OpenRoad racing team is spearheaded by Christian Chia and his two brothers – all of whom are race car drivers themselves and have competed in races all over the world. Their race history includes the Asia GT3 Challenge and the Asian Formula Renault Challenge (2004-2008); Macau Grand Prix, Macau GT Cup (2008); Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (2010-2012); Asia GT Series (Audi R8 LMS) (2014).
