OpenRoad Auto Group grows to 27 dealerships with acquisition of Sunrise Toyota in Abbotsford.
Dec 10, 2018 (Abbotsford, BC) – British Columbia’s largest automotive retail group is expanding once again with OpenRoad Auto Group’s acquisition of Sunrise Toyota in Abbotsford. This latest addition marks OpenRoad’s 27th retail location, third Toyota store, and first dealership in Abbotsford.

Founded by Roy Yakashiro in 1968, Sunrise Sales and Service first opened on South Fraser Way in Abbotsford, and then in 1992 moved and reopened as Sunrise Toyota in the Fraser Valley Auto Mall where it remains to this day. The new and used Toyota sales and service centre employs 45 part-time and full-time employees.
OpenRoad traces its history with Toyota back to 1978, when it opened a modest Toyota showroom on Granville Avenue in Richmond. In 1985, the dealership moved to its present location in the Richmond Auto Mall and was named OpenRoad Toyota Richmond. OpenRoad is currently building Canada’s largest Toyota dealership which will be the new home of OpenRoad Toyota Richmond located right across the street from its current location. The new mega facility will be five times larger than the current dealership, scheduled to open in 2019. At 205,000 square feet, the new OpenRoad Toyota Richmond will incorporate many environmental systems as well as more space to showcase and service the full range of Toyota models. OpenRoad has also owned OpenRoad Toyota Port Moody since 2004.
The new owners have plans to rename Sunrise Toyota, OpenRoad Toyota Abbotsford within the first month of ownership, which will be reflected on the new website, dealership signage and marketing materials. OpenRoad will also bring its signature Club OpenRoad loyalty program and associated service and events benefits to its new Abbotsford customers.
