“Race Sunday, sell Monday.” That slogan is as old as automobile retailing, and set the tone in a short introduction to OpenRoad’s newest store, Posche Centre Langley (PCL), by OpenRoad president and CEO Christian Chia.

“When we started this project nearly three years ago, we wanted to create more than a retail centre,” said Chia. “We committed to building a unique community here, comprised of passionate people, beautifully engineered cars, exceptional levels of knowledge and passion and an avenue to build on that through motorsports experiences”.

During an exclusive open house in late November, over 350 guests stopped by PCL for guided facility tours and a chance to meet Scott Hargrove from OpenRoad Racing, winner of the 2014 Ultra 94 GT3 Porsche Cup Challenge Canada Championship by Michelin.

The Surrey, B.C. driver and series rookie led the No. 69 OpenRoad Racing Porsche to victory a total of six out of 10 races.

PCL is only the second Porsche dealership in the Greater Vancouver area and serves as a 44,000-square-foot sales-and-service centre for “Canada’s fastest-growing brand.”

General Manager Aly Jiwani said, “This is the 16th Porsche Centre in Canada, and we’re very proud for it to be in Langley. All of our team here are Porsche enthusiasts and love showcasing the brand.”

Jiwani made the announcement that Porsche Centre Langley would be the host of of any non-profit organization who wants to use the space.

“The Porsche enthusiast community is very strong, and similarly we want to ensure that our facility is a strong part of the Langley community,” he said.

Langley Mayor Ted Schaffer was also present for the event and noted that the Langley Auto Collection site is Canada’s “first and only luxury auto mall.”

“The city of Langley is very happy to have Porsche here,” said Schaffer. “We’re delighted to have a state-of-the-art facility right in our backyard. On behalf of the City of Langley, we officially welcome the OpenRoad Auto Group into our neighbourhood.”

The final special guest in attendance was 40-year veteran member of the Porsche Club of America (PCA), John Macfarlane.

Macfarlane presented PCL with the club’s plaque of appreciation for sponsoring PCA’s Whistler 2014 event.
