Porsche Performance Tour 2014: day two

After having some fun off the beaten path with the brand new Porsche Macan luxury crossover on day one, the Porsche Performance Tour 2014 stuck to conventional roads Thursday for the long scenic drive from Whistler to Vernon.

The highlight of the journey was taking turns travelling in the 911 Carrera S and Cayman along Duffy Lake Road, the eastbound stretch of Highway 99 past Joffre Lakes Provincial Park, full of windy roads and mountain switchbacks lasting for several kilometres. Mid-week traffic was light and the two sports cars had several opportunities to kick into high-revving Sport mode to stretch out their legs.

The caravan made a few stops along the way: a pitstop at Nairn Falls in Pemberton, Black Iron Grill at Tobiano near Kamloops for lunch, and a driver change at the retro Route 97 Diner in Lillooet. The final destination for the night was the luxurious Sparkling Hills Resort in the Okanagan Valley, which has incorporated 3.5 million crystal elements into its architecture — a fitting place to park the Porsches. Below are photos from the drive.
