Brampton East Toyota and OpenRoad Honda Brampton Step Up to Support Local Food Banks with Staff Walkathon
January 15, 2021 (Brampton, ON) – OpenRoad Auto Group is proud to announce that dealership staff at Brampton East Toyota and OpenRoad Honda Brampton have donated $5,000 to local food banks in the Peel region by raising funds during the first-ever OpenRoad Walkathon. The charitable initiative was in support of the Knights Table, an organization that operates a major food bank, while providing hot meals and other services to the people in the Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon areas who deal with the daily issues of hunger, poverty and homelessness.
Staff from OpenRoad dealerships in B.C. and Ontario participated in the charitable endeavour from December 2-14th which saw OpenRoad donate $4 for every $1 that employees raised per kilometre walked. Representatives from Brampton East Toyota and OpenRoad Honda Brampton presented the funds raised to the Knights Table in early January.

It’s been a challenging year for local food banks due to increased demand resulting from the pandemic.”
OpenRoad’s two Brampton stores raised $5,000 for the GTA Food Banks, while a national total of $46,800 was raised for all regional food banks, including a donation of $41,800 to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank in British Columbia.
Food banks in all regions are experiencing a significant decline in contributions while the need for support has increased during the pandemic. For over 27 years Knights Table has served the needs of people dealing with issues of poverty and homelessness in the Peel Region. Driven by client needs, Knights Table is supported by a staff of ten along with over 3,200 volunteers who are committed to assisting people who come through their doors. The staff and volunteers assist the clients regardless of colour, culture, religion, economic status, gender, sexual orientation or social condition. The non-profit organization is supported by various levels of government, businesses, charitable foundations, groups, churches and individuals. With their assistance they make it possible to remain open 365 days a year to serve over 79,000 meals annually.
