The EV market is not slowing down with more and more new models being introduced. This year, there were more electric vehicles for sale than any year prior. So, with more choices than ever before being available to consumers, which ones are the most awarded by automotive journalists?
2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 – From $54,999

2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 – From $54,999
Like the IONIQ 6, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 made a big impact when it was introduced in 2022. Just like its sibling, it immediately won the World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year. This year, the IONIQ 5 can add a Top Safety Pick Award from the IIHS and MotorTrend’s Best Electric Compact SUV to its list of award wins. Additionally, the high-performance Hyundai IONIQ 5 N recently won the 2024 World Performance Car Award beating out other finalists such as the BMW M2 and BMW XM.
Genesis G80 Electrified – From $105,000
Genesis is no stranger to receiving multiple awards for their vehicles. This year, the 2024 Genesis G80 Electrified was named the 2024 Canadian Car of the Year by AJAC. It is also a recipient of the Top Safety Pick+ Award from the IIHS.
Genesis GV70 Electrified – From $84,500
The gasoline version of the Genesis GV70 was already an award-winning SUV. The electrified version builds up on it with the Best Compact Luxury SUV award from AutoTrader.ca, the 2024 Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year award from AJAC, the 2024 Best Residual Value award from Canadian Black Book, and the Top Safety Pick Award from the IIHS. Between the electrified and the gasoline-only versions, the Genesis GV70 is possibly one of the most awarded vehicles in recent memory.
BMW i5 – From $83,700
The BMW i5 is a completely new car for the 2024 model year, but it shares a lot of its components with the updated 5-Series. It has a striking new interior design, an updated exterior design, and more powerful yet more efficient engine & electric motor options. Due to its redesign, it impressed judges at the World Car Awards as they named the 2024 BMW i5 & 5-Series the 2024 World Luxury Car. This is an award which BMW has not won since the BMW 7-Series in 2016. See this award winning car for yourself at The BMW Store in Vancouver or BMW Langley.
Volkswagen iD.4 – From $48,495
The Volkswagen iD.4 is no stranger to winning awards. In its first year of production, it won the coveted 2021 World Car of the Year award. For 2024, Volkswagen gave the iD.4 more powerful electric motors along with a revised touchscreen interface and a slightly lower starting price. All these changes didn’t go unnoticed as the 2024 VW iD.4 won the 2024 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Award for Best EV.
