The Most Anticipated EVs of 2024
2023 was a big year for electric vehicles. More EVs were introduced than any year previously. At OpenRoad Group we’re already looking ahead to 2024. Here are the most anticipated new EVs of 2024.
Acura ZDX / Honda Prologue
The Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue are sister cars, not unlike the Subaru Solterra & Toyota bZ4X. The ZDX and Prologue were co-developed with the help of General Motors. The ZDX will be available with a rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive layout and over 500 km of driving range. There’s also talk of a 500+ hp Type-S model coming too.
Like the ZDX, the Honda Prologue will also be available with a single motor or dual motor layout. But unlike the Acura, it is said to have a front-wheel-drive layout instead of RWD. Driving range is estimated to be a little bit less than its sibling but not by much with around 480 km of range. Expect to see the Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue at OpenRoad Acura and OpenRoad Honda dealerships in Richmond, Burnaby, & Surrey in early 2024.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 N
Have you ever seen a 641 hp Hyundai? You’re about to in 2024, as the famous IONIQ 5 receives the sporty N treatment. Most of the time, the car will be producing 601 hp, but, at the push of a button, 641 rampaging horses will accelerate the car from a stop to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. The driving range won’t be as much as the standard IONIQ, 5 but at just over 300 km, it’ll still be enough for most consumers’ needs. Sales of this hot Hyundai will start early in 2024 at OpenRoad Hyundai.
Porsche Macan Electric
The second all-electric model from Porsche is the all-new Macan Electric. Just like the Taycan, the Porsche Macan Electric is no slouch and infuses the driving dynamics & quality that Porsche vehicles are known for. It utilizes two electric motors, one at each axle, to produce a combined output of 402 hp & 479 lb-ft of torque with the overboost power function. Porsche have not yet announced the driving range of the new Macan Electric but it will be able to recharge from 10% to 80% in as little as 21 minutes. The Porsche Macan Electric can be ordered right now at Porsche Centre Richmond or Porsche Centre Langley with deliveries expected in the second half of 2024.
Audi Q6 e-tron
Slotting in between the Q4 e-tron and the Q8 e-tron, the upcoming Audi Q6 e-tron will be similar in size to the wildly popular Audi Q5. Two versions of the Q6 e-tron will be available with the standard producing 375 hp, while the SQ6 e-tron will produce upwards of 480 hp. As for driving range, the standard Q6 e-tron is said to have upwards of 500 km. The Audi Q6 e-tron is undergoing final testing and should be arriving at OpenRoad Audi by the middle or late 2024.
MINI Countryman Electric
Following the success of the Mini Cooper S Electric, 2024 sees the introduction of the larger MINI Countryman EV. Like many other EVs, it will be available with a single motor or dual motor layout, the latter of which will be a first for the MINI brand in the EV market. With a battery capacity of around 65 kWh, estimated driving range should be close to almost 400 km on a single charge. The new MINI Countryman EV will be sold at MINI Vancouver & OpenRoad MINI Langley alongside an updated gasoline-powered Countryman in early 2024.
Rolls-Royce Spectre
The Rolls-Royce Spectre marks a major shift for the legendary luxury brand. The ultra-luxury coupe is the first electric vehicle in what will eventually be an all-electric lineup by 2030. The 2024 Spectre will only be available with a dual-motor drivetrain that produces 577 hp and an estimated driving range of around 400 km. The switch to an electric powertrain further enhances the quiet, comfortable, and serene experience that Rolls-Royce vehicles are known for. Pre-orders are currently being taken for the Spectre at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Seattle.
Volkswagen ID. Buzz
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is an all-electric van that harkens back to the VW Bus of the 1950’s and 1960’s. It has retro-inspired styling but modern-day underpinnings. The 86 kWh battery pack supplies power to a rear-wheel-drive 282 hp motor or an all-wheel-drive dual-motor with 330 hp. The estimated driving range is around 400 km, but no word yet on pricing. OpenRoad Volkswagen Burnaby is currently taking pre-orders for the ID. Buzz with deliveries expected sometime in late 2024.
